Texas RB D’Onta Foreman will enter NFL draft

Texas running back D’Onta Foreman has signed with an agent and will enter the NFL draft after leading the nation in rushing with 2,028 yards this season.

Foreman, a junior, surpassed 100 rushing yards in each of his past 13 games at Texas and became the second 2,000-yard rusher in school history, joining Ricky Williams. He announced his decision to go pro on Wednesday.

“I had a wonderful season,” Foreman said. “I’ve got to try to strike while the iron’s hot.”

Foreman is ranked No. 18 among Todd McShay’s top 32 NFL draft prospects and No. 3 among running back prospects behind LSU’s Leonard Fournette and Florida State’s Dalvin Cook.

Foreman has received early feedback that he could be a late-first- or second-round pick, a source close to Foreman told ESPN. He signed with Select Sports Group on Tuesday.

Texas finished 5-7 this season and fired coach Charlie Strong on Saturday. Foreman said he would go pro even if Strong had been retained. New Texas coach Tom Herman met with Foreman this week and supported his decision.

“For me not to be able to be with those guys and try to get this thing heading in the right direction again, it was definitely a hard decision for me,” Foreman said.

Foreman, a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, which honors the nation’s top running back, rushed for his 2,028 yards in only 11 games and scored 15 touchdowns. He said Wednesday he believes he deserves to be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.

“I definitely feel like I should be in New York,” Foreman said. “We didn’t put up the wins we should have, but I was consistently productive for my team. I did everything I could to help us win. I feel like I’m just as good as those guys. I feel like I should be up there with a chance to win.”

When asked which NFL franchise he hopes to play for, Foreman replied: “To be honest, anybody who’ll give me some money.”

Thomas Jones was always known for having a focused dedication to football during his 12 seasons in the NFL

Thomas Jones was always known for having a focused dedication to football during his 12 seasons in the NFL, and now the former Chicago Bears rusher is applying that same mindset on stage as an up-and-coming actor. In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Jones detailed how his life after football led him into what could become a second career:

“I got the acting bug,” Jones said. “I had never heard of the show (Showtime’s “Shameless”). Then I’m Mikkel Diskerud Authentic Womens Jersey working with (lead actor) William H. Macy and Bradley Whitford, who I did not know because I didn’t watch TV. It was crazy. I found a safe haven in acting because it helped me detox from the game.”
Jones moved to Hollywood in order to perfect his new craft and recently appeared alongside Gabrielle Union on the TV show Being Mary Jane. Even though he’s found similarities between acting and football — including the business-like approach to both — Jones is enjoying his newfound passion and the chance to be creative.

Bradford’s health isn’t going to entice teams to throw a bunch of draft capital at the Rams. His contract isn’t especially attractive either, but that could at least be reworked by a new team.

It makes less sense for the Rams to trade him because the only other quarterback they have on the roster at the moment is Austin Davis. The team’s brass did say that they would look at bringing Shaun Hill back, but that’s not going to inspire confidence either. The Nick Rimando Authentic Womens Jersey next best available quarterback beyond Bradford might very well be Mark Sanchez, yeeeesh.

The St. Louis Rams released seven-year veteran defensive lineman Kendall Langford on Thursday, the team announced. He started all 16 games in both the 2012 and 2013 seasons, but AP Defensive Rookie of the Year Aaron Donald made Langford expendable due to his stellar first campaign.

The Rams save $6 million in cap space with the move.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have released nine-year veteran Will Blackmon, the team announced Thursday. The move leaves the Jaguars with four cornerbacks and makes Blackmon a free agent.

Pacers’ Paul George sits out vs. Nets, will miss two more games

Indiana Pacers forward Paul George sat out Friday’s 118-97 win over the Brooklyn Nets and will also miss the team’s next two games because of a sore left ankle, the Pacers announced.

George, a three-time All-Star Arian Foster Authentic Womens Jersey forward, has dealt with the ankle injury for the past two weeks. He was sidelined for three straight games before returning for Wednesday night’s 96-85 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, in which he played 38 minutes and scored 18 points on 6-of-22 shooting.

In addition to Friday’s game, George will sit Sunday against the Los Angeles Clippers and Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Pacers also announced that forward Kevin Seraphin, who missed Friday’s game because of a sore left knee, will sit out Sunday and Wednesday.

“I was in a lot of pain, but I knew how to control it,” he said. “I knew what not to do. [There are] so many games in this league, so it’s hard to stay healthy when you’re injured and try to maintain that focus.”

He added, “I can’t really move the way I want, so when I try to Bob Griese Authentic Womens Jersey fight it and [do] sharp movements and plant and do stuff like that, it aggravated it.”

Russell, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 draft, said he believed that he didn’t need surgery and is hopeful the injection, along with core, glute and pool workouts, will help him return to form.

Russell plans to travel with the Lakers on their upcoming road trips — including a four-game trip starting Tuesday in New Orleans — because, he said, “I’d rather travel and get treatment than sit here and not.”

When the Lakers announced that Russell had received a PRP injection Wednesday, they noted that he would be evaluated in one week.

Masahiro Tanaka’s looming opt-out shades Yankees’ pitching plans

To understand why the New York Yankees may end up being the free-agent winners for someone like left-hander Rich Hill, it is best to hop in the DeLorean, pump it up to 88 mph and fast-forward to a year from now.

At that time, Masahiro Tanaka will most certainly be a dilemma for the Yankees. If Tanaka repeats his 14-4, 3.07 ERA season, he most assuredly will opt out or threaten to opt out, leveraging a clause in J.J. Jansen Authentic Jersey Year 4 of his seven-year, $155 million contract. If Tanaka struggles in 2017 or, worse, is severely injured, then he likely would stay on to finish out the final three seasons of his deal.

Either way, the Yankees will be at the mercy of Tanaka’s success or failure. So that little nugget shades any free-agent or trade talks the Yankees are having as the hot stove heats up.

What happens with the Yankees’ rotation will depend a lot on Masahiro Tanaka.

As of this moment, the Yankees have no other proven veterans signed past 2017. Michael Pineda and CC Sabathia are free agents after this upcoming season. Luis Severino took a huge step backward last year. Bryan Mitchell, Luis Cessa and Chad Green have a total of 25 starts between them. Adam Warren has proved to be better as a swingman than a regular starter.

For 2017, that does not appear to be a division-winning staff. That is why Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has repeatedly said his main focus is on adding pitching this winter.

There are still different ways to attack the problem. Cashman, facing the same issue last year, tried James Bradberry Authentic Jersey to go after it backward, adding Aroldis Chapman to Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances. It proved to be the right strategy to make the World Series, but, unfortunately for the Yankees, the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians were the ones actually using it in October.

The Yankees do have interest in a reunion with Chapman, who was traded to the Cubs in July. Chapman may end up with a contract just like the one they unloaded when they traded Brian McCann — somewhere around five years and $85 million.

Outside linebacker Aaron Lynch returned to practice last week on a limited basis

Right now – with the Dallas Cowboys riding a franchise-record, nine-game winning streak that began at Washington in Week 2 – it’s pretty hot.

Who better to knock off the Cowboys right now than Washington?

“It’s not so much about knocking anybody off their roost,” Norman said. “We’re trying to get Greg Mancz Authentic Womens Jersey our seventh win.”

Outside linebacker Aaron Lynch returned to practice last week on a limited basis, as he battles back from a high-ankle sprain. During the portions of practice open to the media, though, Lynch didn’t look like a player ready to get back on the field. The Niners didn’t push Lynch, holding him out against the Patriots. But they sure could use some pass rush help, and another week figures to put him closer to a return.

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, nearly three weeks removed from a minor MCL sprain, still isn’t 100 percent, but the Jets feel he’s healthy enough to start on Sunday. Center Nick Mangold (ankle) has missed three games, but with the help of the bye week, he could be ready for a return against the Patriots this week. He’s nearly five weeks removed from a severely sprained ankle.

Have to mention two here: center Ryan Kalil and middle linebacker Luke Kuechly. Kalil reinjured his J.J. Watt Authentic Womens Jersey shoulder that forced him to miss two starts, and he wasn’t at practice on Monday. Kuechly suffered a concussion in Thursday’s win against New Orleans and also was not at practice. It’s hard to imagine both of them playing on Sunday at Oakland. The offense was a mess without Kalil in the second half against the Saints. The impact of losing Kuechly won’t be as big if A.J. Klein is cleared from the concussion protocol. Klein played well in the three games Kuechly missed with a concussion last season.

Left tackle David Bakhtiari gutted it out on a knee that knocked him out of last week’s game at Tennessee. He held up well and didn’t give up a sack or a hit.

Former football coach and player Eric Baranczyk offers his analysis of Green Bay Packers games each week during the season.

“That being said, that’s all I’ll say about it. I love being here, I’m excited to get to work on the Jets, and look forward to practicing with our guys.”

Potential solace: Buccaneers rookie kicker Roberto Aguayo, who only last week succeeded in officially having the word “beleaguered” removed from in front of his name on all documentation, was 4-for-4 on field goals and hit his only extra point attempt Sunday. So it can get better, kickers. It can get better.

Klimas then sent him to Turner’s training camp.

“He said, ‘I’m not going to put pistol to your head to pay money back,'” Kovalev said, as he and Klimas broke out laughing. “OK, after this we shake hands and I flew to New York.”

Klimas then sent him to Turner’s training camp.

“I was the new kid on the block and Don Turner was Kevon Looney Authentic Womens Jersey my tutor, but I didn’t know much about what’s going on,” Klimas said. “Bringing Sergey to this point, we were in Kazakhstan and he did shadow boxing and Don Turner said, ‘Egis, where did you get this guy from?’ After that we went on a very long run. I used to call every single promoter. I used to try to put him on every single show. I used to try to show him to everybody who was around.”

Ben Roethlisberger threw for 408 yards against the Cowboys last week. He was sacked just once. The Cowboys are having a difficult time generating a consistent pass rush. As much as Flacco has struggled this season, Steve Smith can move the chains and Mike Wallace can make big plays. Last year’s No. 1 pick, Breshad Perriman, recorded his first touchdown last week. Baltimore might not have Pittsburgh’s total package but can still make some plays against a Dallas secondary that will be without Morris Claiborne and Barry Church.

An ESPN poll of viewers later voted that play as the NFL’s “Most Shocking Moment in History.”

I remember calling him the morning after I broke his leg. A woman answered the phone. I don’t know if she was his girlfriend or wife at the time. I hear her say, “Joe, Joe, that guy is on the phone!” When he got on the phone, he told me that Klay Thompson Authentic Womens Jersey I had broken both the bones in his leg. I kidded him by telling him that I didn’t do anything half-assed. I told him, “If I’m going to break them, I’m going to break them both.”

Joe had a helluva a career, and he did well after the NFL. But he’s always maintained that his legacy is that injury. As he told the Orlando Sentinel, “I’ll forever be known as the Godfather of Broken Legs.”

Houston should be ranked this week after beating two of the committee’s top 10 teams

Assuming Alabama, Clemson and the Big Ten champion are all in the final top four, the Buckeyes would then be compared with the Pac-12 champ and Big 12 champ, and they’d probably need some help to unseat one of them (unless Wisconsin wins the Big Ten and the committee values Ohio State’s head-to-head win above the Badgers’ league title, which would be an entirely different debate).

The one thing Ohio State doesn’t have to worry about?

MacIntyre and Holgorsen could still be leaving their posts, but now for better jobs as coveted candidates. They are among the group of coaches who every year improve their stock because of what happens during the season.

Here’s a look at 10 coaches, in alphabetical Kris Durham Authentic Womens Jersey order, who should keep their phones close at hand because of strong results in recent weeks.

Chryst considers Wisconsin a destination job, and for good reason, as he was born in Madison and played and coached for the Badgers. The 51-year-old is most likely a UW lifer, but it shouldn’t stop other schools from pursuing a coach who has done an incredible job guiding the Badgers into playoff contention despite one of the nation’s toughest schedules and middling quarterback play. Chryst is a first-rate playcaller and talent developer. While Wisconsin is the perfect fit for him, the school also has lost coaches because of its frugal reputation.

Remember, it’s the highest-ranked Group of 5 conference champion that earns a New Year’s Six bowl bid, not just the highest-ranked team.

Houston is a different team when it’s Kyle Van Noy Authentic Womens Jersey healthy, especially on defense. Louisville had three turnovers and 15 penalties on a night when it had the committee’s attention.

“We blew it,” Louisville coach Bobby Petrino said.

And everyone else in the Top 25 noticed.

Celtics assistant coach Micah Shrewsberry playfully nicknamed Yabusele the “Dancing Bear”

Powell may very well develop into a solid NBA player, but it seems fairly safe to project that the deal will ultimately tip in favor of the Celtics. Not only has Crowder already cemented himself as a key piece of Boston’s young core — a traveling member of the Kevin Durant recruitment party this summer — but the Celtics now have two other pieces Authentic Geno Smith Jersey to show from the deal.

Yabusele, the No. 16 pick in the 2016 draft, is honing his skills overseas in China. The 20-year-old Frenchman showed some intriguing potential with Boston’s summer league squad, especially his ability to both stretch the floor and attack the basket.

Celtics assistant coach Micah Shrewsberry playfully nicknamed Yabusele the “Dancing Bear” for the way he’s able to move nimbly despite his frame.

Demetrius Jackson, the No. 45 pick in the 2016 draft, made the team’s overcrowded roster out of training camp and provides emergency depth at the point guard position. Jackson is currently on assignment with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA D-League, but Boston likes the young ball-handler and has him locked up under their long-term control.

“I’m shocked he doesn’t make a trade every week,” former NBA coach and Celtics Hall of Famer Kevin McHale joked last month.

The trade that brought Jae Crowder to Boston Authentic Jalin Marshall Jersey highlights the type of moves the Celtics have made since 2013.

Or maybe he wasn’t joking. One team’s GM heard enough whispers during the first week of the season that he started asking around to see if there was any truth to the buzz. There wasn’t but, again, everyone simply suspects Ainge and his staff are up to something.

Don’t read too much into that. The insinuation was simply this: The Celtics believe their best trade is their next trade.

But what about Rondo?

Well, he’s on his third team since the swap. The Mavericks have admitted they shouldn’t have done the deal. But it might be Crowder’s development that stings most as he has morphed from a role player in Dallas to become maybe the nerve center of Boston’s young team.

The Celtics gave Crowder a chance to blossom and he marvels at how things have changed since that swap.

Sources: Michigan QB Wilton Speight not expected to play Saturday

Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight is not expected to play for the Wolverines this Saturday, multiples sources have confirmed to ESPN.

Speight appeared to injure his non-throwing shoulder in this past weekend’s loss to Iowa. According to multiple reports, the redshirt sophomore quarterback broke his collarbone. Coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday afternoon that Speight “could be” a De’Vondre Campbell Authentic Womens Jersey game-time decision for No. 3 Michigan’s game against Indiana.

Should those three scenarios play out, the Big 12 champion would be back in business. Not a likely proposition by any stretch.

Then again, chaos already struck college football Deion Jones Authentic Womens Jersey over the weekend. All the Big 12 needs now is a little more.

Cooks made three tough catches for 37, 29 and 32 yards, absorbing some big hits from the Broncos’ punishing secondary along the way. His 32-yard TD catch (that might have been a game-winner if the Saints had made the extra point) was a thing of beauty.

“To get them to understand — which I think they already do — that I’m a tough player, and I’m gonna continue to work at that, to not just be one-dimensional. And as I continue to remind them, I feel like they trust me and they will continue to put me in those positions when the time comes.”

It’s clear that Cooks is a huge part of New Orleans’ No. 1-ranked passing offense. The former first-round draft pick led the Saints with 84 catches, 1,138 yards and nine touchdown catches last year.

And the dynamic speedster, who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.33 seconds at the scouting combine, has two of the three longest receptions in the entire NFL this year (a 98-yard TD against Oakland in Week 1 and an 87-yard TD against Carolina in Week 6).

However, the 5-foot-10, 189-pound Cooks hinted earlier this year that he didn’t think he was being used in the best way early in the season. He didn’t get specific, but seemingly he didn’t want to get pigeonholed into a deep-threat/clear-out role. Also, rookie receiver Michael Thomas has recently been emerging as a go-to guy for quarterback Drew Brees, with five touchdown catches in a six-game span.

But Brees showed how much trust he has in Cooks this past Sunday while firing those three beautiful passes to him in very tight windows.

Durant added his take on the end of the streak

Curry singlehandedly turned the atmosphere into Oracle Arena 2.0, and in his past three games he has nailed 24 of 38 3-point tries.

The rebuilding and injured Nuggets lacked Darren Daulton Youth Jersey any offensive firepower and coughed up the ball 18 times, making it tough for them to contend with Golden State. No Nugget scored more than 14 points.

Draymond Green continued his long-distance assault by going 3-for-4 from downtown, making it 7-of-10 in his past two games. He finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Klay Thompson had 19 points while going 3-of-4 from long range.

Kevin Durant ended the night with 18 points, snapping his streak of consecutive 20-point outings at 72 games — a mark he shares with Michael Jordan and the fourth-longest 20-point streak.

Durant added his take on the end of the streak.

“It really didn’t mean a thing to me, to be honest,” he said. “I think it was cool for the fans to see, I guess. But for me, I was going out there doing what I was supposed to do. I shot 16 times tonight and that’s on me. I’ve got to make more shots if I want to keep that thing going. It was cool while it lasted, it was fun and up there with some great names, but like I said, I’ve got bigger goals in mind.”

As he cut across from left to right, a kick of acceleration took him past Nicolas Otamendi with ease. This was when fellow centre-back Ramiro Funes Mori should have come across to shut the gate — the idea of a pair of centre-backs is that one covers the other. But here the gate was too big, wide enough to take the game out of Argentina’s reach.

For 25 minutes, Argentina’s game plan — cautious, but Dave Cash Youth Jersey understandably so — worked nicely. With two banks of four, they looked to keep themselves protected and get the ball to Lionel Messi. His presence was immediately apparent.
